A trio of girls romping in the leaves

On a cold, snowy day in Cleveland it’s refreshing to look back at photographs from a beautiful fall day in October. The leaves, the light, the lack of scarves and coats, adds up to an entirely different feeling than winter. I last had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family when they were awaiting the arrival of baby girl #3, Mylah Elizabeth. We used this session to capture some 1 year old portraits of Mylah as well as the two older girls, Aliyah (now 3 years old), and Selah (age 5). I think it’s safe to say we had a blast playing in the leaves and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon.

What is your favorite way to capture the fall colors? Have you been thinking about the seasons to come while we’re in the midst of winter?

A birth announcement for a newborn boy

I absolutely love receiving ‘real mail’. You know the type- invitations, letters, announcements, cards. It’s such a nice reprieve from the boring bill or stack of junk mail. So I was pretty excited to receive this darling birth announcement for my cousins little boy. An added bonus – it includes a photograph I took of Sammy when he was just a couple weeks old. You may recognize him from this post. I think birth announcements are so sweet and I love the photo that Katie and Kevin chose for theirs.

What is your favorite type of mail to receive? Do you enjoy a great photograph with an invitation, card or announcement?

A baby boy born to new parents

Spring brings new life and this was true for my cousin and his wife in April. They welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world on April 4th and we quickly set up a photo session to capture those first sleepy weeks of his life. Sammy slept like a champ almost the entire time because he was well fed. He was a perfect little subject to photograph and I’m so glad I was able to capture him as a newborn. I think black and white photographs of newborns are my personal favorite, but there are some lovely color portraits of the whole family as well.

Do you prefer black and white or color photographs of newborns? Do you think it’s sweet when they are so sleepy? I love it!

A girl, a boy and the Shaker Lakes

At the start of spring, I was asked to photograph these two adorable kiddos at the Shaker Lakes here in Cleveland. The rain held off for us and I was able to capture some sweet moments with each child. We had fun swinging, exploring the gazebo, climbing stone walls, checking out the playground, and smelling daffodils.

We followed this sweet girl around as she wandered through different areas and led us on a journey of discovery. The little baby boy was 8 months old at the time and was such a perfect age for portraits. He didn’t move to much and gave us so many lovely smiles. The entire process was great and I hope to see these two again in the future.

Have you enjoyed taking photos this spring? Are you gearing up to carry that camera around all summer?

Twin baby boys

Last month, I had the great pleasure of photographing these beautiful twin boys. They were born 6 weeks early and were 5 weeks old at the time of the shoot. They did a great job of staying happy and comfortable in the arms of their loving mom and dad. Newborns are so delicate and intriguing to me and I loved this opportunity to watch them through my lens for a time. I know they will have a wonderful life with their parents who are very much in love. I hope to share more images of them as they grow!

Have you ever wished you had a twin? I certainly did!

Mylah Elizabeth has arrived!

Mylah Elizabeth was born last Friday, October 7th, to my dear friends. We were fortunate enough to meet them in the hospital to meet the darling Mylah for the first time. Her big sisters are very happy to have her and their affection is really sweet. I can’t wait to watch them grow into amazing young ladies.

Have you welcomed any new babies into the world lately?

Caleb Xavier & Niko Jose

A little over a week ago I had the pleasure of capturing little, 3 week old Caleb. He’s the latest addition to a very special family made up of my college roommate, Sarah, her husband, Jose, and their first born, Niko. I’ve known Sarah since I was born, although we didn’t really get to know each other until we were in college at Ohio State together. She’s been an incredible friend for the last 10 years (wow!) and I was so excited to photograph her little men. Sarah is half Greek and her husband is Puerto Rican, so it’s obvious why these little guys are so handsome. I hope you enjoy a peak into their family!

Have you met any new little babes this spring? It seems like a new baby is born every week amongst my friends, so the last month or so has been pretty action-packed!

Chase on the move

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing a great young family, Ryan, Janelle and their little man Chase. I came to their house in the afternoon to find the babe asleep in his crib. We attempted to sneak up and steal a few photos while he slept, but he woke up when we entered the room. I snapped the first photo of him waking up to find a stranger in his room!

After an outfit change, Chase was ready for some modeling and we got to work. We headed downstairs to their living room where most of the action took place. Dressed in his best Boston Red Sox gear, Chase showed me his best looks as he gazed into the camera, out the window and on anything his parents did to keep him excited. He also had some fun with bubbles, although Janelle and I agreed that he probably doesn’t get the full essence of bubble fun just yet. Maybe next time he’ll try to eat the bubbles?

Thanks to the big boy, Chase, and his excellent patience with all of our photo fun and for braving a little cold and snow for some different and fun family pics. Thanks to Ryan and Janelle for being up for anything!

Twin babies

Bryon and Taylor were so much fun to photograph not just because they’re twins (and I’m still intrigued by that like I was when I was 7 and wanted to be one of the Sweet Valley Twins, anyone remember that?). They also seemed to have their own twin attachment even though they’re only 9 months old. Very very cool in my opinion. They braved the very chilly and wet October day and made for two great little subjects. Thanks to their mama and auntie for giving me the opportunity to photograph them. I can’t wait to do it again when they’re running around next summer!
