Marking a Union of Five

It was not the most picturesque fall day, but it was mid-November in Cleveland so we were not surprised by the wind and chill. Despite the conditions, I spent a great hour photographing this beautiful family of five as a way of celebrating the marriage of their parents, Chris and Erica. After a morning ceremony at the courthouse, I met this family in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens and we explored the Italian, Greek and Hungarian gardens together while I photographed their movement and interactions with each other. We had a few posed family shots mixed in, but this family was all about the moments in between the poses and that suited me perfectly.

I must also say this group had the very best outfits styled together – gorgeous lace dresses for the girls, plaid flannel shirts, bowties and khakis for the boys, all that topped off with some great hats and lovely coats. I couldn’t get enough of all the texture and patterns mixing so well together. I hope you enjoy perusing these photographs as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Oh Brothers!

I had the great pleasure of photographing these three brothers and their parents again last fall. I love how each of their personalities shows clearly in the photographs of the entire family and in their individual portraits. Can you tell who the goofball is? By the end of our session together my face was sore from smiling and laughing so much at these brothers and their comedy routine. They made our time together so much fun and they gave some great material for the photographs.

Big Sister and the Twins

I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet family of 5 and photographing their adorable little girl, Etta, and twin boys, Gavin & Vaughn. We spent our time together at the Cleveland Museum of Art and I enjoyed the smiles from all three kiddos. Since the twins weren’t able to sit up on their own just yet, we pulled in the use of a couple Bumbos to help them be independent for their twin portraits and some photographs with their big sister. Identical twins are just too cute!

Fall at Rocky River Beach

It is such a pleasure to photograph families as they grow and in this case, I had last photographed their eldest son when he was a newborn more than a decade ago and he has changed quite a lot since then. In October, it was time to gather to photograph their youngest son with the whole family. Fall was rolling in with cooler temperatures, changing leaves, and beautiful puffy clouds so we decided to spend the morning at Rocky River Park exploring all areas of greenery and the sandy beach.

You can’t ask for more beautiful light than on a cloudy early fall morning. I love the hint of coziness the change of seasons brings this time of year. What is your favorite part of fall?

Celebrating an Adoption

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing this fun family back in May and we chose downtown Cleveland as our backdrop. What was once a family of four, became a family of five with the addition of their youngest son, Camryn. His adoption just became official on October 24th and my dear friends are finally able to share photos of their entire family. We did the session before everything was final to commemorate this event and to document Camryn as a true part of their family. I absolutely love how these brothers interact and how they never stop moving. Nothing is perfect and kids do fight, but growing up with two older brothers like David and Jonathan will surely be a blessing for Camryn.

Have you ever seen a little one adopted into a wonderful family? It is truly remarkable. Please join me in celebrating with this family!

Four generations together

There is no doubt that I love doing what I do, but this session re-affirmed by passion for photographing families. I was asked to photograph four generations of one family and I had the most incredible time with this group. I spent a couple hours with them getting a glimpse into their family dynamic and relationships. I met the great-grandparents – Katie, Ray & Jane, grandparents – Jeff & Cathy, parents – Chris, Summer, Andy & Maggie, and the adorable grandkids – Lola, Remy & Max. When Kathy asked me to do the session, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. I already knew Andy, Maggie and Max from his newborn session (and Andy happens to work with my husband). I also hail from a large family myself so I was excited to capture the relationships of another family.

During our time together, we captured moments between each part of the family. Moms, Dads and kiddos, grandparents and kiddos, great-grandparents and kiddos, the women of the family, the men of the family and every other wonderful combination. The images that resulted truly capture the love in this family. Moments like these don’t last forever and I’m so happy they were able to have some memories frozen in the form of these photographs.

What photographs do you treasure the most? Do you have images that help you remember favorite times with your family or friends? After the loss of my Grandad, I hold photographs of him so dear and they are all over my home.

Twin baby boys

Last month, I had the great pleasure of photographing these beautiful twin boys. They were born 6 weeks early and were 5 weeks old at the time of the shoot. They did a great job of staying happy and comfortable in the arms of their loving mom and dad. Newborns are so delicate and intriguing to me and I loved this opportunity to watch them through my lens for a time. I know they will have a wonderful life with their parents who are very much in love. I hope to share more images of them as they grow!

Have you ever wished you had a twin? I certainly did!

Caleb Xavier & Niko Jose

A little over a week ago I had the pleasure of capturing little, 3 week old Caleb. He’s the latest addition to a very special family made up of my college roommate, Sarah, her husband, Jose, and their first born, Niko. I’ve known Sarah since I was born, although we didn’t really get to know each other until we were in college at Ohio State together. She’s been an incredible friend for the last 10 years (wow!) and I was so excited to photograph her little men. Sarah is half Greek and her husband is Puerto Rican, so it’s obvious why these little guys are so handsome. I hope you enjoy a peak into their family!

Have you met any new little babes this spring? It seems like a new baby is born every week amongst my friends, so the last month or so has been pretty action-packed!
